Traffic Management & Traffic Control

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course provides the required competency for anyone carrying out short term low impact works on the road network, including the utilities sector, surveying sector industry and events workers and in civil construction.

This course is not suitable for anyone working directly in the traffic management industry (Traffic management businesses or its employees/contractors)

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive two units of competency to Control Traffic with Stop/Slow Bat and Implement Traffic Management Plan.

You will learn the skills to implement a traffic management plan, control traffic with a stop and slow bat, set up traffic control equipment, use signs and devices to direct and coordinate traffic through a work zone, traffic guidance scheme or road works.
Learning how to guide drivers through changed road conditions will make this a valuable skill set.

• Working knowledge of the OH&S and regulatory requirements
• Understand a traffic management plan
• Understand traffic control signage and barricades
• Use two-way radios
• Assess hazards and risks
• Basic signalling techniques
• Understand building and civil construction terminology

PRE-REQUISITES

• Ability to comprehend the English language

• Safety footwear

DURATION

1 day – variable dependant on class size and experience.

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT

Two (2) assessments will be conducted at the completion of training – Knowledge and Practical Assessments.

LICENCES & CERTIFICATION

This course is a Nationally Recognised Training and applicants’ deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet-size competency card.
